do we actually think it’s possible for a-rod and the yankees to be in “talks” again? has someone finally decided to answer my prayers? i mean seriously, if this is some sick ploy on the part of BORAT BORAS, i am going to be PISSED! let’s weigh the options here.
1) The Yankees are actually talking to A-Rod. Period.
2) Boras is trying to drive up the numbers that A-Rod is likely to get. Right now it seems everyone in baseball has settled on the 10 year $275 million deal. And this is a bargain? If I could make $27.5 million dollars a year for the next ten years, playing a game i love, that would be SWEET. (You’d better believe my $2 a week to charity would sky rocket to about $200,000 a week — that’s roughly $10 mill a year. Guarantee I would get a sweet plaque. ) So Boras thinks, tell the media A-Rod’s talking to the Yanks, the media runs with it, suddenly the Red Sox, Angels, Dodgers decide to jump on the wagon and start throwing out crazy amounts of money — A-Rod and Boras both get what they want — ridiculous amounts of money and they piss off the MF Yankees.
3) As much as I don’t like A-Rod, the last theory I will discuss is the one I would like to belive is true (because I believe in humanity). A-Rod finally realizes that by associating himself with the human slime ball (boras) since he was 16 years old, has done more than just tarnish his public image. When someone is 16 they have no idea what is in their best interests, and if Boras sweet talked A-Rod’s family into believing everything he said, then of course they thought they were in the best hands. So go for the money, go for the fame, forget your heart, the reason you are playing the game anyway. According to Fox Sports online (I KNOW — Fox — AHH) “But the Yankees, who lost $21 million worth of contract subsidy from the Rangers when Rodriguez opted out of the last three years of his contract, apparently have another requirement: They do not want A-Rod’s agent involved in the process at all. ‘We will not negotiate with Scott Boras,’ a Yankees source told the Daily News. ‘He cannot be in the room.’ “
“Friends and advisors of Rodriguez in his native Miami have been advising him to dump Boras, a source told FOXSports.com’s Ken Rosenthal. Rodriguez has staunchly rejected the idea, the source says.”
” ‘Most of this is about Alex trying to salvage his image,’ the source told the newspaper. ‘He’s upset over the way this whole thing has played out and the way he’s being portrayed now, because of Boras.’ “
I hope he decides to do what is best for him on a personal/professional level, rather than what BORASS says to do, or what will fetch him the most money. If it’s 10 years that he wants, get the 10 years at a reasonable salary, and be happy playing the game you love man.
for love of the game.
